Piastow and Koscielniki train stops in Krakow with construction permits

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA has obtained permits for the construction of new train stops in Krakow. This is an important step towards the new train stops – Piastow and Koscielniki. The projects are being implemented as part of the “Government program for construction or modernization of railroad stops for 2021-2025.”

The Małopolska Voivode has issued permits for the construction of Kraków Kościelniki and Kraków Piastow stops. The documents have been given the order of immediate enforceability. This is an important stage of preparations for the start of work on the ground. The first travelers will use the new platforms in 2025.

The Krakow Koscielniki stop will be built next to railroad line No. 95 (Krakow Nowa Huta – Podłęże), in the vicinity of Pysocice Street. The contractors will build two single-edge platforms. An underpass, equipped with ramps, will lead to them. Its location will allow for the construction of a Park and Ride parking lot in the vicinity. Travelers on agglomeration trains will reach the center of Cracow in several minutes.

On the other hand, the Kraków Piastow stop will be located in the vicinity of Powstańców and Piasta Kolodzieja Streets, at the place where railroad line No. 95 connects with railroad line No. 8, leading towards Kielce and Warsaw. The new platforms will be connected directly to a road viaduct over the tracks. Access for travelers will be facilitated by stairs and elevators.

The stops will be fully accessible to people with limited mobility. Platforms will feature shelters, information boards, benches and clear signage. Lighting will also help with orientation after dark. A system of paths with a differentiated structure will be an amenity for the blind or visually impaired.
